Abstract

394,421. Closures for cans. SMITH, P. S. D., 7, King's Bench Walk, Temple, London.-(General Can Co. ; 1603, S. Canal Street, Chicago, U.S.A.) Feb. 8, 1932, No. 3721. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii).] A can &c. having an annular top, the opening in which has a diameter substantially less than that of the can and is below said top, is provided with a removable cover of the friction type in said opening and having a flange projecting outwardly below said top, a seal of tearable material being disposed over the top of the cover with its outer periphery secured to the can &c. body and being provided with a tab located above and out of contact with the cover so as to be easily engageable for removal of the seal. As shown, the cover 14 is provided with lugs 20 and the seal 21, having the tab 23, is of tearable metal, e.g. aluminium foil, of annular form having its outer edge 22 engaging the upper edge of the can.
