Abstract

400,008. Cans &c. SAND, L. A., 88, Nieuwe Parklaan, Scheveningen, The Hague. Dec. 7, 1932, No. 34653. Convention date, Nov. 3. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii).] A can, glass jar, or other container having an outwardly beaded rim 2 is provided with a sheet metal cover 3, the edge of which is curled over to embrace the rim, then directed outwardly, affording a constriction 6, and finally directed downwardly to form a leading or guiding part 4 of substantially the same diameter as the rim, the lower edge of which part is curled outwardly to meet the lower edge of the outward part of the constriction 6, forming a reinforcement 7. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, an indiarubber ring or other packing may be disposed between the rim and the cover.
