[Classes 18, 21, 66, 94(ii) and 125(iii)] A metal bush 1, Fig. 4, for fitting to an aperture in a non-metallic container 2 is provided with a reinforcing ring 7 of angled-section fitting therearound After insertion in the aperture the bush is flanged to form the ring into a channel-section element extending around and enclosing the aperture rim, and the flange and ring are then consolidated about the aperture by a pressing operation to grip the rim between the flange and ring. The completed job is shown in Fig. 1. The web 8 of the ring may have a beaded edge. The bush may be fitted with a screwed closure cap 4 the bottom of which is provided with a handle 12. Before this is fitted a temporary closure may be provided by a thin metal cap 11 swaged in place.
