Abstract

606,106. Securing lids to drums, kegs &c. ROBINSON, G. A. June 5, 1944, No. 10736. [Classes 21 and 125(iii)] [Also in Group XXV] The lid 2 of a keg, drum or like article has a depending flange 4 encircling the neck or body of the article, and fastening means are pivoted on the flange for drawing down the lid to secure it firmly on the body. The fastening means engage both the depending flange 4 and a bulge or recess in the body. In one form, Fig. 3, the fastening means comprises a member 10 having legs 11 pivotally mounted in a frame member 12 secured to the flange 4 and a cam-shaped portion which engages the upper shoulder of a recess 7 in the body. An aperture 8 is provided in the flange 4 to allow the member 10 to be flush with the flange in its closed position. In another form, Fig. 10, a lug 31 is mounted upon a bolt 30, passing through a nut 29 secured to the flange 4. Alternatively the bolt 30 may be replaced by a rod having a cap portion engaging the cam upper surface of a member secured to the flange 4.
