[Class 125 (iii)] A vacuum closure retaining device for use in bottling fruit or the like comprises an annular member 11 from which spring members 19 extend to engage the lid 21, and on which spring-urged catches 14 are pivotally mounted in bearing members 13 so as to engage releasably with the underside of a lip 18 of the jar 12. Thumb-andfinger grips 22 are provided to facilitate handling.
