Abstract

606,558. Lids of tins or boxes. KUTTRUFF, K. March 20, 1945, No. 6991. [Classes 18, 66, and 125(iii)] The lid or cover 1 of a box or tin 2 contains a plate 3 with an upstanding knob or platform 6 projecting through an opening in the lid 1 so that the box may be opened using one hand only, as by holding the sides of the lid 1 between the thumb and middle finger whilst pressing the knob 6 with the index finger. The sides of the lid 1 may be indented at 4 to prevent the disc falling out. Packing 3a &c. may make the box airtight, or a paper or celluloid disc with annular folds may be stuck on the top of the box. In modications a rib is pressed outwardly round the flange of the lid at 4, to accommodate a rubber ring between the flange and the sides of the box; the top of the knob 6 may project outwardly beyond the sides; the plate 3 may be substituted by a domed disc, at the bottom of the box, a rod secured thereto projecting upwardly through the lid.
