Abstract
651,872. Fastenings. SOCHOR, J. March 3, 1948, No. 6655. Convention date, March 5, 1947. [Class 44] A locking device for vehicle bodies, containers &c. comprises a rotatable bolt, consisting of a shank part 5, an eccentric part 6 and a head 7 with an offset lateral extension, mounted in a bearing sleeve 2 carried by a bracket 1 fastened, e.g., to the side wall of the vehicle &c. Secured to the bolt is an operating lever 8 which has a lug 9 bearing against a cam surface 3 on the sleeve 2, while a second lug 10 secured to the shank 5 in line with lug 9 bears on a similar cam surface 4. The head passes through, a correspondingly shaped aperture in a bracket 13, fixed to the hinged door or tailboard of the vehicle, and having a bulge 14; subsequent rotation of the bolt engages the offset portion of the head 7 with the, edge of the aperture and over the bulge 14, and draws the parts close owing to the camming action of the lugs 9, 10 and the sleeve 2.
