Abstract
640,191. Catches. COOPER, J. H. Dec. 4, 1947, No. 32003. [Class 44] A door catch comprises a spring arm secured to the door and having a projection or nose at one end to engage in a notch in a striking plate mounted on the door joint. In the form of Fig. 1. the spring arm 3 has a nose 7 formed at the free end for engagement in a depression 6 formed at one end of an inclined striking plate 4. The spring is mounted on a plate 1 secured by a screw passed through an aperture in the spring. In a modification, Fig. 8, the spring arm 15 is of V-shape and engages in a V-notch 12 on a strip member secured to the door joint. The arm 15 is displaced as the door closes by an inclined part 16 and in the closed position engages against the surface 17 of the member to hold the door closed. In another form, Fig. 5, the spring arm is provided with a roller 8 to cooperate with a striking plate of the form shown in Fig. 1. The catch may be locked by one arm of a lever 9 positionable behind the roller 8 to prevent it lifting out of the notch in the striking plate when opening pressure is applied to the door.
