Abstract
602,124. Window &c. fastenings. MILTON, A. Oct. 12, 1945, No. 26735. [Class 44] A fastening, shown as applied to a sash window, comprises a plate 1 on one member having a slot 3 to receive a hasp 13 on the other member ; a latch 6 pivoted at 4 to the plate 1 for engagement with the hasp has pivoted to its opposite end a bifurcated block 110 which in the operative position of the latch may be turned about its pivot 11 so as to lie in a notch 12 in the plate 1 with its upper surface flush with that of the latch and its lower surface with that of the plate, thereby locking the latch. The plate 1 is recessed in its projecting half to receive the plate 14 carrying the hasp. The fastening is also applicable to hinged members such as lids of boxes &c., and to arrangements in which the plates 1 and 14 approach one another in the plane of the plates instead of transversely thereto, in which case one or both may be flexible to permit the plate 1 to ride over the hasp for engagement, or the plate 1 may be hinged for this purpose.
