Abstract

202,147. Webb, A. A. O. July 19, 1922. Catches, automatic; catches yielding to pull and pressure, unless secured.-A fastening for windows, of the type comprising a latch 4, pivoted to a bracket 3 on the sash 1, engaging a catch 11 on the sash 2 by the closure of the windows, and locked by a pawl 6 dropping behind the latch, is characterized by the engaging surfaces 8 of the latch and pawl being substantial arcs of a circle the centre of which is at the pivot 7 of the pawl 6. The bracket 3 has a recess 14 for holding the latch in a position clear of the sash 2. Fig. 7 shows the fastening applied to a casement window.
