Catches, gravity. - Relates to fastenings for windows &c. of the type having a latch member on the one sash which automatically engages a bracket on the other sash and is locked in engagement by an automatic stop. O n raising the sash b, the arm m<2> of the lever m is turned by the boss a into engagement with the bridge d, the tail m<5> of the lever m causing the locking-piece i to abut against the heel m<4>. The locking-piece i has a slot n, the edge of which, by engagement with the tail m<5>, serves to lock the lever m even when the window will not completely closed. The fastening is released by turning the lever i by hand. In a modification, the lever pivot h' works in a slot, and the heel m<4> is extended to engage a rack, the lever i being turned by hand to draw the sashes together.
