Cupboard-turns; door chains and the like.-A fastening for limiting the opening of sliding windows, doors, shutters, and particularly of sliding casements, consists of a catch c on a bell-crank lever pivoted in a casing h on the sash and having a handle protruding through a curved slot in the casing, and a slotted angle-plate i fixed to the frame or second sliding sash. The catch is adapted to engage a notch j<1> on the plate when the window &c. is closed, and when the window is opened the catch is retained in the slot and stopped at its closed end. The angle-plate may be made, as shown in Fig. 4, without a slot and having an end-stop i'.
