Abstract
213,769. Stoddart, J. April 6, 1923. Hinged-sliding windows.-A fitting pivoted to the window frame is adapted to constitute a cord and weight-retainer when the sash is swung inwardly and a batten rod fastening when the sash is closed, and means are provided automatically to lock the fitting in the first-mentioned position. The fitting 5 is pivoted to the frame b immediaately above the hinged batten rod e, being movable in a recess in the fixed part e<1> of the rod. When the member 5 is in the vertical position, the cranked end 5<a> is clear of the guideway of the pulley stile, but the hook-shaped end 5b then engages the hinged portion e of the, batten rod and locks it in closed position. When the sash is to be opened inwardly the member 5 is turned to a horizontal position and the cranked end 5<a> projects into the guideway so as to engage and retain the weight-block c. During this movement, the member 5 trips past a depending latch 9, which immediately afterwards returns to its original position under gravity or spring means and locks the member against movement. The weightblock c detachably connects the sash and sash cord. For fastening the batten rod, a catch 12 pivoted to the frame b is provided with a notch 12<a> to engage a projection 13 on the batten rod; or, alternatively, the member 5 may have a notch adapted tb engage a projection.
