Abstract
770,501. Lock guards. MARSHALL, R. W. K. June 30, 1955 [April 25, 1955], No. 11822/55. Class 44. An anti-burglar device for a door 3 fitted with a lock 12 comprises a strap 1 hingedly connectible at one end to a bracket 2 attachable to the door in the proximity of the lock, the strap being movable across the lock to a position in which access to the lock is prevented by the strap which is lockable by a padlock 7 in that position, the hinged end 8 of the strap being readily detachable from the bracket, and the end 8 of the strap being outwardly curled and being engageable with the inner face of an outwardly and downwardly curled edge 9 on the bracket so that the strap is held captive both by the padlock 7 and by the curled edge 9 on the bracket. Cheeks 10 of the strap mask the handle of the lock. In other arrangements, Figs. 5 to 8 (not shown), the lock handle is wholly or partially exposed through a hole in the strap. According to the Provisional Specification, the invention is applicable to window catches.
