784,666. Safety pins. KYVON, R. DE. Dec. 5, 1955, No. 34820/55. Class. 43. A safety pin comprises a locking member pivotally mounted on the conventional head of the pin and turned back on to this head to mask the usual slot provided in the head to prevent inadvertent opening of the pin. The locking member, a plate 6, has an inwardly curved tab 7 at one end, which is passed through a slot 8 in the head 3 of a safety pin to form a pivot by means of which the plate can be turned over the head of the pin to cover the slot 4. The plate has an inwardly curved tab 9 at the free end, with notches 10, 11 which yieldingly engage the arms 1, 2 of the pin when the plate is in locking position. The tab 9 may also have an inwardly bent flange 12 which engages behind the end of the head 3 to lock the plate in position.
