Abstract

484,830. Bag &c. fastenings. GIERDEN, J. Jan. 27, 1937, No. 2380. [Class 44] A fastening for hand-bags &c. comprises a plate c secured to one part a of the bag and carrying a rotatable member d (the edge of which may be milled) mounted on a pivot-pin secured by counter-sunk screw e, member d having a headed pin i projecting through an arcuate slot in plate c and biassed towards one end of the slot, as shown, by the action of a spring m bearing at one end against a fixed projection k on plate c and at the other against the end of an arcuate slot l in which the spring is housed in member d. When the bag is closed, the head of pin i snaps into engagement with the end of an arcuate slot in a plate n secured to the other part b of the bag. A fixed pin r on plate c enters a corresponding aperture in plate n to ensure registration of the parts and plate n has an ornamental cap p by which the carrying strap t may be attached. Release is effected by rotating member d anticlockwise, Fig. 3.
