Abstract
637,774. Catches. HARVEY & CO., Ltd., M., and JEFFRIES, P. W. June 2, 1948, No. 14855. [Class 44] In a fastening of the kind comprising a head adapted to be yieldably retained between spring loaded jaws, the jaws are provided with abutting portions to limit the closing movement of the jaws. In the form of Fig. 4, the jaws are pivoted in a housing 34 on integral pins 36 and urged together by coil springs 33 engaged over portions 38. The abutting surfaces 27 are of 'V' form and inter-fit to prevent the jaws rocking as a unit. The housing has an opening 35 to pass the head 12. When the head is engaged between the jaws the ends 25 of the jaws contact the sides of the neck 13 before the abutting surfaces of the jaws meet. In a modification the housing is not provided, the jaws being carried on a mounting plate corresponding to the back plate of the housing. In this case, separate pivot pins are passed through holes in side flanges on the plate and holes in the jaws. In a similar form, Fig. 6, both jaws are mounted on a single pin 44 and have flat abutting surfaces 42, 43.
