Abstract

620,894. Cupboard-turn fastenings. CHESTON, A. S., EDMONDS, E. C., CHESTON, B., and STRETCH, D. F. J. Jan. 30, 1947, No. 2851. [Class 44] In a fastening of the class having a pivoted tongue adapted to engage in a locking aperture or staple, with spring means for holding the tongue in its two positions, a separate spring is dispensed with by providing the tongue with a boss part rotatably mounted in a bearing aperture in the base plate, and a spring cover plate of flexible resilient metal spaced from the base plates so as to form a housing for the tongue, the cover plate having projecting parts on its inner side co-operating with the locating recesses in the opposed face of the tongue. For example, the cover plate 9 may be formed with a square pressed-in portion 13 around a circular aperture 14, the tongue 5 having a corresponding square depression 7 engaged by the pressed-in portion of the cover plate. The tongue is rotatably connected to the base plate by means of a boss 4 engaged in a circular aperture 3, and is turned by a detachable key inserted in a square aperture 6.
