Abstract

669,406. Tank closures. SACH, C. E. Feb. 22, 1949. [March 8, 1948] No. 4827/49. Class 125(iii). A closure for the filler neck of a petrol tank comprises a cover 2 in an enclosement 5 of which a lock 3 is located, a latch 12 pivotally mounted on a fixed plate 10 with one end arranged to be depressed by an eccentric pin 8 protruding from the lock so as to withdraw its other end 16 from one of a series of notches 18 in a rotatable plate 19 integral with a central boss 20 carrying a bar 22 adapted to engage opposed ramps in the filler neck, and a channel-shaped ring 4 held in position by the inturned edge of the cover skirting 6 and enclosing the notches to prevent interference with the latch.
