698,445. Closure caps. SACH, C. E. Oct. 29, 1951 [Nov. 1, 1950]. No. 25261/51. Class 125(iii) A lockable closure cap for vehicle petrol tanks has a cap 11 with a diametrically aligned embossment 12 housing the lock 13, a plate 14 with a flange 15 fitting tightly within cover 11 and having a slot 16 engaged by a ledge on the base of the lock to prevent relative rotation. Diametrically opposite the slot 16 is an opening 17 and two lugs have holes to accommodate a pivot pin 19 of a latching lever 21 having lugs through holes in which the pin 19 passes and a platform 23 to bear against the operating pin 24 of the lock 13. The opposite end of lever 21 has a finger 25 fitting through opening 17 and has a compression spring 27 between a dimple 26 and the plate 14. A spinner member 28 has a flat ring 29 fitting rotatably within the flange 15 and having an integral cylindrical part 30 with inwardly directed pins 32. The member 28 is retained against plate 14 by a circular member 34 held in place by an inturned edge of the skirting of cap 11. A sealing member 36 which fits within member 28 but will not slide past pins 32 is recessed to provide a seating for a rod 39 slidable through a hole 20 in the plate 14. When pin 24 engages the platform 23 to depress lever 21 the latch is released and the cap 11 spins but when the lock is released the parts are latched together and may be removed from the tank or replaced.
