Abstract

802,174. Container closures. FRANCIS & BARNETT, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1956], No. 3711/56. Class 125(3). A closure for a vehicle fuel tank has a plug 4 with sealing ring 5 having a force fit in the tank neck 2 and a cover 6 pivotally connected at 8 to plug 4 by a split pin 7 passing through lugs on the cover and plug, one end of the cover being formed as a finger piece 11 whilst the other end bears against a fixed surface 13 so that the cover forms a lever for removal of the plug. A spring- loaded plunger 17 may be provided to prevent rattle of the cover, holes 19, 22 being provided for venting. The inverted plug may serve as an oil measure.
