798,158. Spouts for portable containers. METAL CONTAINERS, Ltd. April 15, 1957 [April 20, 1956], No. 12118/56. Class 66. A pouring spout unit for insertion into the mouth 13 of a container 11 comprises an inner sleeve 17 slidably mounted in an outer sleeve 16, and a spring 18 for urging the inner sleeve 17 out of the outer sleeve 16. The sleeve 17 is shaped at its lower end 17b to prevent its complete withdrawal from the sleeve 16. The mouth 13 and the sleeve 16 have co-operating projections 13b and recesses 13c adapted to engage one another to lock the pouring unit in its proper position in the mouth 13. The pouring spout unit may be closed by a disc 19 held in place by a rim seal 20 that has to be broken before the spout can be used. The sleeves 16 and 17 may be made from any metal or from a synthetic resin such as polyethylene or nylon.
