Abstract

479,147. Closures for petrol tanks. WESTWOOD, S. C., and WESTWOOD. H. B. Sept. 19, 1936, No. 25547. [Class 125 (iii)] The filling aperture of a petrol tank &c. is closed by a cap o which is hinged to the filling neck by a resilient strip a which snaps into engagement with the opposite side of the neck d in the closed position. A flanged metal disc h bears on a shoulder in the neck and is provided with a gasket i. A spring n separates the strip a from the disc h and presses it firmly on its seating. In a modification the disc h is omitted. A spring controlled lever p releases the free end of the spring strip. Vents r, s and t are provided in the cover.
