Abstract
399,969. Labels for cans &c. ROBINSON, F. G.,.Canister Works, Southcoates Lane, Hull. Sept. 7, 1932, No. 24883. [Class 73.] Tins, canisters, and like metal containers having holders for labels are characterized by the holder and labels co-operating to secure a tight fitting label without permanently securing the label. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the holder 1 has upstanding, flanged, inclined edges 4 with which the inturned edges of the label 2 engage. Fig. 4 shows a form in which the label 2 is undulated to fit the correspondingly shaped edges 4 of the frame-like holder 1. In modifications of this form, the label is provided with a single indentation at its top or bottom edge to engage corresponding indentations in the side edges of the frame, or is provided with an indentation or slot to engage a corresponding indentation or tongue in the back of the frame. The sides and bottom edge of the frame may be provided with spring tongues, or, as shown in Fig. 15, the can has a bulge 5 which holds the label in place ; the bulge may be provided on the back of the holder, or the label may be held in place by the lid.
