Abstract

395,858. Can &c. lids. ROBINSON, F. G., Canister Works, Southcoates Lane, Hull. June 11, 1932, No. 16520. [Class 125 (iii).] A tin &c. 3 of the kind in which a seating ring 1 for the lid is beaded or rolled on to the upper edge of the body, wherein the seating ring is in the form of a downwardly recessed lever rim or neck piece having its inner upstanding edge rolled or beaded at 4, is characterized in that an inverted annular channel 5 formed in the lid 2 is adapted to be snapped or sprung on to the beaded edge of the lever rim to grip it and retain the lid in position. A gasket 6 may be used and the edge 7 of the lid may be upturned to provide a levering space. In modifications the margin 7 of the lid 2 may closely conform to the recess in the lever rim 1 for most of its surface or the rim 1 may be formed to leave a substantially unobstructed mouth aperture.
