Lids, hermetic; stoppers, plug; sealing- cops.- A can, tin, or other receptacle for liquids, semi - liquids or the like has a deepflanged lid shaped as at c, Fig. 1, or c<x>, Fig. 7 adapted to engage frictionally with a gripping flange b situated at the mouth of the vessel in proximity to the wall thereof. The lower edge of the gripping flange may be off-set as at b<1> Fig. 7. The inner lid has a hinged handle or holdfast d. An outer sealing cap e. Fig. 1, cr e<x>, Fig. 7, preferably dished as shown is provided to make the vessel air-tight.
