Abstract

776,418. Containers, lever lids. ROBERSON, I. F. July 25, 1955, No. 21419/55. Class 66. A paint &c. can 2, Fig. 4, has a neck 10 of inverted U-shape formed by an outer wall 11 of substantial height and an inner wall 13 terminating at its lower end in an inwardly extending seating portion 14, and is closed by a lever lid 20, Fig. 5, having a downwardly opening channel 21 for receiving the neck 10, the outer wall of the channel 21 terminating above the lower end of the neck, and the lower portion of the inner wall of the channel 21 being shaped for frictional engagement with the inwardly extending seating portion 14 of the neck 10. The bottom of the container 2 may be shaped to facilitate stacking. Three liquid seals are provided ; one by the engagement of the outer wall 11 with the outer flange 22 of the channel 21 in the lid ; a second one by the engagement of an upper portion 23 of the channel 21 with a corresponding part of the inner wall 13; and a third by the frictional seating on the portion 14 of the neck 10.
