Abstract

1422599 Container closures; portable containers CONTINENTAL CAN CO Ltd 17 April 1973 [17 April 1972] 18579/73 Headings B8T and B8D A container 10 has a closure 30 with a primary retaining device 60 formed by flanges 62 and a secondary retaining device 50 formed by an inturned flange 52, open or thin portions 70 of the closure skirt being provided above the flanges 62 to enable a tool (99), Fig. 7 (not shown), to be inserted to disengage each of the flanges 62 from the container. This disengagement distorts the primary retaining device 60 but the closure 30 may be re-applied using only the flange 52. Both closure and container are of plastics material, ribs 20, 22 on the container co-operating with the closure and flange 24 preventing manual opening of the primary device 60. Plates 78 form handles or supports for a bail handle (not shown).
