[Classes 66 and 125(iii)] A lever lid e for a can is stepped as illustrated to provide three bearing surfaces f, f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> against the corresponding surfaces of a collar c which is pressed on the rim of the can, a gap d being left between the inwardly turned edge of the collar c and its main cylindrical part to provide resilience, downwardly and horizontally, to increase the airtightness of the closure. The lid is raised by inserting a coin &c. between beads f<SP>3</SP> on the lid and c<SP>1</SP> on the box.
