Abstract
603,445. Container lids. MAITLAND, J. G. June 4, 1945, No. 13955. [Classes 18 and 66] [Also in Group XXV] A lid 9 for a container 8 has a flange 11 carrying a detent 17 which snaps into a hole 14 in a resilient inturned skirt 13 around the mouth of the container to lock the lid. An outer flange 10 on the lid has a hole 20 opposite a hole 8a in the container enabling an opening tool to be inserted to break-off the detent. The hole 20 may have a seal 21 and a distance-piece 15 may be fitted between the skirt 13 and the container wall. The lid cannot be removed from the container without damaging them or breaking-off the detent. In order that the lid may be re-used, the flange 11 may be replaceable or a separate detent may be mounted on a block which slides into position.
