Vacuum closures; closures completed by cement. - Closures for preserve containers or tins comprise a cover 5 seated on a packing ring 4 which is disposed in an annular recess 3 formed in the neck 2 of the container 1, and a cord, wire &c. 6 laid in the recess and covered by a sealing and hardening mass 8, one end of the cord &c. being threaded through a recess 10 in the lower edge of the cover 5 and up a groove 11 in the inner wall of the recess so that when the cord &c. is pulled away, air can have access to the container through the recess and groove.
