Abstract

570,926. Closures for bottles &c. WHITE, W. P. June 24, 1943, No. 10200. [Class 125 (iii)] A hermetic closure for bottles &c., which may in some cases be vacuumized or contain pressure fluids, comprises a cover 18 with liner 26 of rubber &c. and a sleeve gasket 22 secured to the lower end of a flared part 20 of the cover in such a way that it is, in sealing position, compressed between a cylindrical portion 19 of the cover and surfaces 12, 14 of the container mouth, surface 12 being cylindrical and surface 14 conical. A sealing strip 30, e.g. a revenue stamp may be used and a cellulosic thimble or band 31 may be shrunk in place around it. The closure is adapted for repeated use.
