Abstract

917,300. Container closures. FREESTONE, H. J. Sept. 20, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959], No. 32323/60. Class 125(3). A closure for test tubes, flasks and like containers comprises a lid 11 formed with intersecting ridges 16, 17 which abut against the rim of the tube 19 and a skirt 12 having slots 13 between which are provided abutments 15 so that air can reach the contents of the tube along passages 20 between the wall of the tube and the skirt and through sectors 21 between the ridges 16, 17. In a modification the air passage is formed by longitudinal ribs provided on the inner surface of the skirt. The closure may be provided with a flange which fits inside the neck of the container. A circumferential or arcuate spring may be provided around the skirt, to augment its grip on the container.
