Abstract

764,771. Stoppers; portable containers. THERMOS (1925), Ltd. Jan. 18, 1955 [Jan. 25, 1954], No. 1502/55. Classes 66 and 125(3). A closure for a vacuum flask or like container, is of polyethylene, rubber or other elastic material, has a hollow plug portion 10 with a flange 11 terminating in a depending rim 12 to form a groove which receives the periphery of a ring member 7 forming a pouring lip with beaded edge 8, a sealing gasket 6 being interposed between the flange 5 of the outer casing and the neck 3 of the flask. A cap member 18 has a bead or rib 19 engaging a groove in the outer wall 17 of the plug 10. The hollow space in the closure forms insulation space or may be used to contain sugar, cream, salt, pepper &c. or other flavouring or seasoning agent to be used with the contents of the flask or separately. In a modification, Fig. 2, the ring member 106 forms a pouring lip and has flanges 106a, 106b, 106c to form seals with the flask and outer casing. In further modifications the plug 10 has sealing ribs thereon or is bulbous in shape. Specification 738,772 is referred to.
