Abstract

943,533. Stoppers; pouring devices. P. CARDEN-JONES, and N. H. HUMPHREYS. March 30, 1960 [April 6, 1959], No. 11588/59. Heading B8T. A bottle stopper 18 comprises a tubular core 14a formed with flexible circumferential fins, the outer peripheries of which define an outline of barrel-shape form and which are displaced upwardly to seal against the bottle neck. The head 19 of the stopper is hollow and fitted with a transparent cover 23 through which a disc 22 bearing advertising material may be viewed. In a modification the head 19 is omitted and the core 14a closed at one end by a wall 17. In Fig. 1, the stopper is integral with a pouring device 1 having a body part 2 formed with a pouring spout 6 provided with a liquid outlet 9 and an air vent 10, 11. The spout 6 has at its outer end a closure flap 12 pivoted to a lug 13 on the spout so that when the device is tilted for dispensing liquid the flap falls into an open position. The device may be formed of polyethylene or nylon.
