Abstract

509,876. Closures for bottles &c. SOC. ANON. DES PAVILLONS. Aug. 30, 1938, No. 25404. Convention date, Jan. 26. [Class 125 (iii)] The sealing-element 4 of a screw-on-cap 1 is of inverted-cup shape so as to provide a joint at the upper surface of the neck of the bottle &c. and a further joint between the lateral external surface of the neck and the sides of the cup. The axial length of the element 4 is considerably less than its diameter. A still further joint may be obtained by arranging that the rim 2 of the cup 4 engages a shoulder 6 on the bottle neck. Sealing at the upper surface of the neck is assisted by forming the interior surface of the cap with a convex portion or with a projection 3. The top of the cup 4 may be thinner than the rim, and it may be convex towards the interior.
