Abstract

519,553. Closures for bottles and like containers. JOHNSEN & JORGENSEN FLINT GLAS, Ltd., and ASHFORD, E. Dec. 22, 1938, No. 37334. [Class 125 (iii)] A rubber closure cap 1 for a bottle, phial, can or other container 5 h'as a head with a dependent skirt 2 which has a circumferential ridge 7 which can be sprung into a corresponding recess in the container mouth 4 when the closure is forced home. The hollow skirt 2 may be replaced by a solid plug in the form shown in Fig. 1, and may have two or more parallel circumferential ridges., or the continuous ridges may be replaced by interrupted ridges with gaps 9 Fig. 3. The cap may be made to be applied externally to the mouth of the container, in which case a ridge 11 on the internal surface of the skirt engages a recess 12, Fig. 4, on the external surface of the container mouth. Interrupted ridges may be used in this form. In a modification the ridges are provided on a rubber ring mounted on a hollow core.
