Abstract

550.700. Closures for bottles and like containers. YOUNG. S. D. July 17, 1941, No. 9056. [Class 125 (iii)] A cap 1 or closure for bottles and like containers to engage a bead 8 just below the mouth of the container, has a reinforcing rib 3 round its periphery. At two points in the periphery slots 4 are provided and they are located mainly above the reinforcing rib 3 but their curved extremities penetrate into it. A sealing ring. formed for instance by a flow-in composition, and a cork pad 6 are arranged in the cap. The closure is secured by rolling its edge under the bead 8 on the bottle neck and can only be removed after the tongues 5 are torn away. The cap can be used as a re-seal.
