Abstract

464,295. Closures for cans. GRANT, BOUTLE, & CO., Ltd., H., and BENNETT, H. J. Oct. 16, 1935, No. 28598. [Class 125 (iii)] A can of the type in which the closure is inserted from the interior before the base is secured thereto has a seat for sealing material and a substantial bead 4 which prevents the extraction of the cap after it has been pushed in. The part 1 of the can is wide enough to allow the lid 5 to lie clear of the pouring orifice. The pouring orifice may be inwardly domed, conical or sunk in form, and may have a peripheral inward bead, and may have an inwardly or outwardly extending neck. An additional external closure 11 may be provided as shown in Fig. 7 and an annular depression 2 around the orifice. A plug 22, Fig. 12, reinforced by metal 21 may be provided for sealing purposes.
