Abstract

432,659. Sealing the bungs of metal drums &c. FRANCIS, J. H. E., Thames Ironworks, John Penn Street, Lewisham, London. April 25, 1934, No. 12451. [Class 21] The closure of a sheet-metal drum, keg, &c. is sealed to prevent unauthorized access and to prevent leakage by means of a flat, dished or domed disc e of thin sheet metal secured over the closure by an annular band f of sheet metal, crimped, beaded or otherwise contracted beneath a flange b<1> of a bushing b and overlapping the edge of the disc at f<1>. The edge of the disc may have serrations, teeth, or cut-out portions which are masked by the flange f<1> and may be of polygonal or other shape. Packing rings may be interposed between the parts of the sealing cap before application to the closure. The bung c is disengaged by puncturing the disc and removing it, after which the unscrewing of the bung disengages the annulust.
