Opening by tearing. - A wire or metal strand 11 is wound around a cover 5 for tins and other metal containers and soldered to the cover and the container to effect the closure thereof, the free end 14 of the wire projecting out of the soldering mass to provide an end which may be pulled to withdraw the wire therefrom and free the cover.
