Abstract
527,072. Can ends; tearing cans open. BOGNER, P. Dec. 22, 1938, Nos. 11799/40 and 11800/40. Divided out of 527,010, [Group XXII]. [Class 66] [Also in Group XXII] An end closure for a can as described in Specification 527,010 has a depression 69 to engage in the can-body and a marginal flange 72 for folding with the body flange to form the seam, said marginal flange having a ridge 73 clinched about a rip wire 46 which may indent the walls of the ridge. Between the ends 101, 106 of the wire containing ridge 73 there may be a lower ridge, or a flat part 104. The hole by which the wire passes through the closure may be sealed by solder or other material and the end 75 may be secured by including it in the seam.
