Abstract

257,604. Loewe, S. Aug. 25, 1925, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes; R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-A vaporizable metal, such as magnesium, for absorbing gas, is present in the alloy of which part of the electrode system is constructed, in such small quantity that the deposit produced is not sufficient to impair the transparency of the bulb. Magnesium, with or without calcium, is preferably alloyed by heating sheet nickel, tungsten, tantalum or molybdenum to incandescence in a vacuum furnace, and exposing it to magnesium &c. vapour. Such an alloy gives off minute quan. tities of magnesium when heated in the bulb at incandescence and in a high vacuum. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of magnesium for improving the electron emission of a cathode. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
