Abstract

257,254. L÷ffler, S. Aug. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Sluice valves. - A stop-valve particularly adapted for use with high pressure and highly superheated steam of the kind having a single valve member brought into the closed position by a combined vertical and lateral movement effected bv a spindle acting through toggle links has a centrally disposed movable intermediate member arranged between a member carried by the links .and the valve member. In the form shown in the Figure the valve 2 has a chamfered face 3 and a centring extension 4 and is connected by a central member 5 to a block 6 coupled by two pairs of toggle links 9 to a spindle 10 actuated by a nut 11 and handwheel 12. The block 6 has a tubular part 7 adapted when the valve is open to connect the inlet an doutlet ports, which part also is provided with rollers 8 to form an abutment for the toggle links. The lower end of the spindle may be guided by rollers engaging grooves in the casing and the intermediate member may have a hemispherical head held in engagement with a laterally movable pad on the members 6 by a bolt having a hemispherical head held in a recess in the valve member by a cover plate. The action of the toggle links may be limited bv a nut 11<a>.
