Abstract
232,161. Seiffert & Co. Akt.-Ges., F. April 11, 1924, [Convention date]. Closure members. - A sluice valve, sliding between two parallel seats, is provided with an auxiliary valve seating upon and controlling a passage - way through the main valve, the auxiliary valve being operated by an inclined surface upon a push rod carried by the main valve spindle. The closure member comprises two parts 1, 2 mounted in a stirrup 3 carried by the valve rod 4. Openings 10, 11 are provided in the members 1. 2 and are controlled by an auxiliary valve member 8 with closure surfaces on both sides. An aperture with inclined sides is provided through the member 8, and the push rod 5 is provided with similar inclined faces, so that on first moving the rod 4, the rod 5 rises with the stirrup and lifts the member 8 from its seating. The pressure on the main valve is thus balanced so that it may be readily moved on further movement of the rod 4. At the final stage of the downward movement of the rod 4, the valve 8 is released and allowed to close under fluid pressure.
