Abstract
410,944. Fluid - actuated valves. HELLYER, R. H., 35, Red Lion Square, High Holborn, London. March 15, 1933, No. 7814. [Class 135.] Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves.-A flushing valve of the kind actuated by fluid pressure acting on a piston under the control of a manually actuated tiltable auxiliary valve co-operating with a seating on the main piston is fitted with a dashpot device to prevent the main valve being held in the open position. The main piston 4 is provided with a leak orifice 13 and is internally shouldered to provide a seat 11 for the auxiliary valve 16 which has a conical depending guide spigot adapted to permit the valve to tilt. The auxiliary valve is formed integrally with a dashpot cylinder 14 provided with a leak port 20 and containing a plunger 15 with a depending stem 18 normally in the path of a push actuated operating plunger 7. On operating this plunger the auxiliary valve is tilted and the main valve opened by inlet pressure acting on the lower side of the piston. Should the plunger 7 be held depressed while the main valve is closing the stem 18 engages the plunger and the dashpot cylinder then moves over the plunger and allows the main valve to continue its closing movement. The leak port 20 may be replaced by a leaky non- return ball valve to permit fluid passing out of the cylinder at a greater rate than it enters.
