Boat-lowering cradles.-In arrangements for preventing ships' boats from smashing against the ship's side, or to facilitate its sliding down the side during lowering operations, a pair of skates 14 are provided constructed, for example, from T-section material. The skates are secured with the flat side in contact with the boat by means of a keel block 15 and a gunwale fixture comprising an eccentric device having pronged ends which, on operation, of a. handle, can be brought into engagement with the upper end of the T-bar. On deck, the rib of the T-bar is arranged to fit between guides on an outwardlyinclined support or chock 17 provided with rollers 19 which bear on the flanges.
