Lifeboats of the kind having a water-tight deck 2 with transverse bulkheads 3 and relieving-tubes 10 having non-return valves are provided with a longitudinal bulkhead above the water-tight deck, and air casings 5 are placed beneath the seats. The valves in the relieving-tubes are of the float type working on a central pin, or of the hinged type placed in an elbow tube.
