Abstract

298,930. Gaskin, T. H. July 16, 1927. Rafts. - A reversable lifeboat or raft of the type described in Specifications 107,779 and 193,983 comprises a flat deck 14 on the side normally uppermost, and on the side which is normally submerged, a deck 15 which extends from stem to stern with the ends sloping away from the upper deck. Buoyant boxes 26 are enclosed in air chambers bounded by the sides 11, Fig. 4, the top and bottom longitudinal seats 23, 24 and longitudinal bulkheads 25. Communication is established between these lateral chambers by central pipes 35 and bulkheads bounding the stem and stern chambers 20, 21 are pierced for a similar purpose. The upper and lower deck are connected by drainage tubes 27 fitted with the usual valves. The lower part of the boat is fitted with a longitudinal coaming.
