Producers. - A water-gas generator a is surmounted by a retort b through which the watergas passes, the retort being heated externally by a jacket k having a spiral flue in which is burned a portion of the water-gas which enters by a pipe f, air being supplied by a pipe i. The water-gas enriched by distillates escapes through an outlet c and a part of the water-gas may be drawn off through an outlet e. The hot waste gases pass by a pipe l to a boiler m which supplies steam through a pipe n to an inlet p. The gases may be enriched by the addition of oil or tar through a conduit o. A part of the gasified fuel may be withdrawn in the form of coke.
